Take a 15-minute walk to Fondamento Nuova where you can hop on a vaporetto (public water bus) and discover the islands of Murano, Burano and Torcello.

From Venice Marco Polo International Airport: - Upon exiting baggage claim, in front of you and to your left you will find transportation services for arriving to Venice. - Private water-taxi. You can arrange for a taxi at the water-taxi service desk in front of you upon exiting baggage claim. Alternatively you can email the guest house or call the hotel 3 days prior to your arrival. They will arrange a taxi to pick you up and bring you directly to the guest house. - Taxi (car) to Piazzale Roma. Taxi drivers are located directly outside of the airport terminal. - Public bus transportation to Piazzale Roma. Take the ACTV (orange bus – makes several stops) or the ATVO (blue bus- 20-minute ride directly to Venice). You can buy tickets inside the airport terminal or at automatic machines near buses. From Trevisio Airport: -Take bus or taxi transportation service to Piazzale Roma, then follow directions from Piazzale Roma. From Santa Lucia Railway Station or Piazzale Roma with public water transport (vaporetto): -Take vaporetto lines 1 or 2 (formerly 82) and get off at S. Marcuola stop. This is just a short walk from the boat stop to your room. With your back to the Grand Canal walk straight ahead, turn left after the church, and then take your first right, until the end of the street, then right again. Here you will be in Corte del Pegoloto. You will see La Colombina restaurant on your left, and straight ahead is the entrance to the guest house, Sotoportego del Pegoloto. The front door is under the sotoportego. By Foot: The guest house only recommends walking only if you are travelling with few or light bags. -From Piazzale Roma cross the new glass bridge and take Lista di Spagna /Strada Nuova, passing in front of the train station. A few minutes after crossing Ponte delle Guglie and the fruit & vegetable market of S. Leonardo , on your left-hand side you will see Teatro Italia, a lovely building covered in mosaics (or Cinema Italia as the locals call it). The Guest House is hidden behind this building, on the right-hand side, behind the green newsstand and the La Colombina restaurant under the Sotoportego del Pegoloto. -From Santa Lucia Railway Station, you need to go down Lista di Spagna /Strada Nuova. From here follow the above directions. By Car: Al Portico recommends parking in one of the many garages located in Piazzale Roma.

The self-service style breakfast is available from 1 April until 1 October. Enjoy the honesty-bar service in the courtyard, where a fridge is stocked with water, wine and beer. Take what you like and put the corresponding money in the box. This is an excellent place to meet new friends while relaxing amidst the flowers and sipping a glass of wine. You can also use the upstairs kitchen. La Colombina, the family's restaurant is right next door and offers a fantastic selection of fresh, seasonal foods prepared daily. It is mandatory to inform the hotel of your estimated arrival time upon reservation or within 3 days of arrival via email or telephone. Thank you for your cooperation. Please note: - Rooms at Al Portico do not come with televisions and the guesthouse has no elevator. - Most rooms are air-conditioned, others come with fans. - Al Portico is environmentally friendly and limits use of detergents.
